What does the donor egg IVF procedure look like?

The initial stage in the egg donation process is choosing a donor. According to the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act 2021, the egg donor can be a known or anonymous person who has been selected by an ART bank. No patient is allowed to have their own egg donor/s. Then, the donors and the recipients have to sign legal papers at a government centre before they can begin the process. They also need to undergo some medical tests.

What is donor sperm IVF?

In a donor sperm IVF treatment, the female partner is given injections for ovarian stimulation and formation of multiple eggs. Once the eggs are of proper size, these eggs are taken out by Ovum Pick-up procedure. These eggs are then fertilized using donor sperms and the resultant embryos are cultured. These semen samples are of known or anonymous certified donors. As per Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act 2021, no patient is allowed to get their own sperm donor that isn’t registered with an ART bank. These embryos are then transferred back to the patient’s uterus.
