IVF - ICSI
What is donor IVF-ICSI?
Donor egg IVF is a process in which the patient's spouse's sperm is used to fertilize the eggs of a healthy young woman (the egg donor), and the resulting embryos are then placed into the patient's uterus. In addition to giving the couple the gift of motherhood, this treatment also enables the woman to enjoy the bliss of pregnancy.

What does the donor egg IVF procedure look like?
The initial stage in the egg donation process is choosing a donor. According to the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act 2021, the egg donor can be a known or anonymous person who has been selected by an ART bank. No patient is allowed to have their own egg donor/s. Then, the donors and the recipients have to sign legal papers at a government centre before they can begin the process. They also need to undergo some medical tests.
- The donor's ovaries are stimulated using a stimulation regimen, which causes them to produce lots of eggs.
- The eggs are collected after giving the patient anesthesia by a process called Ovum Pick-up and are then fertilized using the partner’s sperm.
- The embryos are then cultivated in the IVF lab.
- The recipient woman is given medications in the interim to get her uterus ready for implantation.
- Once the endometrium is ready, hormones are normal and the embryo has cultured to a blastocyst stage, the embryo/s are transferred into the uterus.

What is donor egg and donor sperm IVF?
In this procedure, IVF is done using donor eggs and donor sperms. An egg donor undergoes ovarian stimulation and eggs are collected. Sperms are obtained from a sperm donor. As per the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act 2021, no patient is allowed to get their own sperm donor or egg donor who isn’t registered with a legal ART bank.
Using these donor eggs and donor sperms from a licensed ART bank, embryos are created and cultured. During that time, the recipient woman’s uterus is prepared by giving medication. Once the uterus is ready and hormonal tests are normal, the created embryo is transferred. In this way, the couple can enjoy the pregnancy and bliss of parenthood.
